Become an Agent of Change, Host a Blood Drive!

Host a blood drive

Coordinators are part of a team that helps make blood available for patients. As a parent of a child who needed blood, it’s gratifying to pay it forward.

How to Host a Blood Drive

We all need inspiration to find the power to do our part. As a blood drive coordinator, you will encourage blood donors in your area to join you and work toward a common goal. If you just want to be part of something that helps people, or if you have a specific desire to honor the memory of a loved one, the time to act is now.

Coming Together as a Community

Every one of us is essential to moving the world forward. Vitalant needs to collect as many as 5,500 blood donations every day to meet patient needs, so this is an opportunity to transform your life and the lives of so many others. Join a team of passionate volunteers to ensure a steady blood supply for patients throughout the country. If you can inspire and empower others to act on their urge to help—where they can, when they can and as much as they can—this is an amazing way to pay it forward.

ON-SITE BLOOD DRIVES

On-site blood drives can be held almost anywhere, from churches and businesses to recreation centers, libraries and clubhouses.

We have a few basic requirements:

  • We ask for a minimum of 30 people to participate.
  • You must have either an inside location that meets specific requirements for staff and equipment or an outside location suitable for a bloodmobile.
  • You will need to raise awareness of the blood drive, educate donors about the constant need for blood, and be passionate, persistent and dedicated.

We will provide the following resources:

  • You will work with a Vitalant Account Manager. This individual is a blood drive expert who will support you through every step of the process helping ensure you meet your goals.
  • You will have access to an online recruitment tool, Coordinator Portal, after signing our Blood Drive Coordinator Confidentiality Agreement.
  • You will be provided with digital and/or physical marketing materials upon request.

Virtual Blood Drives

Don't have a suitable location to host a blood drive? No problem. There’s a new way you can help: You can give back to your community by hosting a virtual blood drive! A virtual blood drive allows you to recruit from your desktop, and donors can give at any Vitalant blood drive or donation center in their area. Organizing one of these events is simple to get started. You’ll work alongside an experienced donor recruitment representative who will guide you every step of the way. Together, we can help move the world forward. Learn more.
