In the last few years, the number of people donating blood has dropped about 20%. You can help counter that trend, so patients won’t be at risk if blood isn’t available when they need it. This year, we invite you to celebrate by doubling your impact through our Refer a Friend program using your unique referral code.
When you donate blood and bring a significant other, friend, or family member along, you’re not just doubling the amount of blood donated — you’re doubling the hope and healing to patients in need.

Another great benefit to using the Refer a Friend program is that you can earn $10 for every new blood donor you refer AND they will receive $10 as well.
Here’s how it works:
1. Every blood donor has a unique referral code. You can find it any time in your Vitalant donor profile.
2. Copy and paste your referral code and send it in an email, social media post, text message, etc., to everyone you can think of. Add a message like: Join me and save lives by giving blood. Here’s a referral code you can add to your appointment, so we know the impact we’re both making for hospital patients. Go to vitalant.org or call 1-877-25-VITAL to get started.
3. Or better yet, log in to your online donor account, go to the profile page and click “Email to a friend” below your code. That opens an email to send to friends; its link automatically enters your unique referral code when your friends make an appointment through the email.
Every time someone donates blood using your referral code, you’ll be able to see the appointments and successful donations tallied on your Vitalant profile page. You’ll feel awesome as those donation notices start piling up, knowing with each one, your impact on patients and their families and friends is multiplying.* Learn more about the Refer a Friend program.
Together, you and that special someone (or even just someone you get along with really well) can provide twice the hope to patients in need and make this season even more meaningful.
