In this role, Cap will spearhead the creation and growth of innovative service lines to support the development of novel biotherapeutics for patient care.
“We are thrilled that Becky has joined Vitalant to build upon our foundation of providing biotherapies to hospital oncology and transplant programs to help save lives,” said Rob Van Tuyle, chief operating officer at Vitalant. “Through her leadership and working with our industry partners, we will grow our product and service offerings, providing more value to our clients and the communities we serve.”
Cap will oversee the current portfolio of services for biotherapy developers, initially focused on product sourcing, processing, storage and management, and will work with Vitalant’s network to develop others.
She brings a wealth of experience in the life sciences industry, most recently serving as senior vice president for BioBridge Global and as the chief operating officer of GenCure, a subsidiary of BioBridge. During her tenure, she secured startup funding for contract biomanufacturing, grew that business and drove the growth of BioBridge Global’s Advanced Therapies footprint. She has and will continue to play a vital role in shaping the biotherapy industry's understanding of blood centers' potential to extend high-quality care to patients.
“Vitalant’s reputation for research, innovation and service is well-known and well-deserved, “said Cap.” I look forward to building on this legacy to deliver more value to partners and patients.”
In addition to her executive roles, Cap has an extensive background in life science consulting and research. Her career began in laboratory and regulatory affairs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, contributing to cancer research trials.
Cap holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management. She has served on advisory and operating boards for non-profit and for-profit organizations and national and international professional societies. Currently, she is on the advisory board for Velocity Tx, a startup engine and incubator, and the IP Advisory Committee for the Texas Biomedical Research Institute. She is also active in national and international professional organizations in the cell and gene therapy space.
