National blood services provider Vitalant recently received the Chief Marketer PRO Awards top honor in its health and wellness category for the COVID Rescue Team campaign. The “gold” honor acknowledges excellence in brand activation and promotion marketing.
When COVID-19 became a pandemic in the U.S., plasma from patients who had recovered from the disease called convalescent plasma was a leading treatment for the virus. To collect convalescent plasms from generous volunteer donors, people first had to become aware of the need and be educated about the process.
The COVID Rescue Team campaign was developed with agency partners ForwardPMX, The Honor Roll and T3, a Material Company, to rapidly increase donations and help save lives. The campaign culminated in an integrated marketing and communications effort to reach and connect with those who had recovered from COVID-19 and could potentially help a patient fighting the virus.
