In early July, two lucky donors, both named William, were randomly selected from a list of nearly 99,500 Vitalant donors to each win a $10,000 gift card as part of the Big $10K Giveaway. Any donor who successfully donated, or attempted to donate, in June, was automatically entered into the national drawing.
William F. is a donor from New Jersey. He gave blood in mid-June at the West Milford community blood drive, which qualified him for the drawing. He was very excited when he learned he was a winner.
The second winner, William C., from Idaho, donated blood in mid-June at the St. Mary's Health Kamiah Clinic blood drive. When notified that he won, he said he was in disbelief at first, and then shared “I actually got pretty emotional,” he said. “What a blessing!”
William C. first started donating after his best friend was hurt in an ATV accident. “He had severe internal bleeding. The doctors did several surgeries to try and stop the bleeding. While he lay on the hospital bed unconscious, the doctors encouraged us to donate blood,” he said. “Although he passed away from his injuries, I have been donating blood ever since.”
William C. saw first-hand why blood donations are always needed. He encourages others to give it a try. “It only takes a little while to give. Yes, it hurts for a second, but it’s worth it,” he said. “Accidents happen every day and people need blood.”

In early June, three lucky donors – remarkably all from Colorado – were randomly selected from a list of more than 99,000 Vitalant donors from across the country to each win a $5,000 gift card as part of the Time for a Vacay giveaway. Any donor who successfully donated, or attempted to donate, in May, was automatically entered into the national drawing.
Soumya gave blood in late May at the Denver Echo Star blood drive, which qualified him for the drawing.
Paul gave a Power Red donation for the first time in mid-May at the St. Thomas More Parish Center blood drive in Denver. He’s a longtime blood donor who donates regularly.
The third winner is Steven. He donated blood at Vitalant’s Westminster donation center in Denver in late May. He’s also a committed donor who routinely donates throughout the year.
All three winners were thrilled to hear they won the $5,000 prepaid gift card and were incredibly grateful.
